What is SEO and why does my website need it?

chrisp design seo explaining what search engine optimization is for websites

Hey Guys & Girls,

You may have already heard of Search Engine Optimisation or SEO, but you are not quite what it is or why you need it. I’m hoping this will clear things up for you.

What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimisation is the process used to affect the visibility of a website or webpage in a Search Engine.

Why does my website need SEO?

Think your business can get along just without with SEO? Think again.

The majority of web traffic is driven by the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. Although social media and others types can generate visits to your website, search engines are the primary method of navigation for most internet users. If you don’t have an internet presence you pretty much don’t exist.

Remember..

An important aspect of SEO is making your website easy for both users and search engine robots to understand. Although search engines have become increasingly sophisticated, they still cant see and understand a web page the same way a human can. SEO helps the engines figure out what is page is about, and how it may be useful for users.

Reasons why you should invest in Search Engine Optimisation:

– Your competitors are already doing it.

– 75% of users never scroll past the first page of Search Engine results.

– SEO is not a cost but an investment with a high return.

– It will help people find your website.

– It helps increase trust and credibility.

– 43% of online experiences begin with a Search Engine.

I hope this has helped explain Search Engine Optimisation, If you have any questions I am always happy to help.
